Dawn, a member of Germania for the past few years, was a chorister and soloist (and usually the comic relief!) in the Columbus Maennerchor’s Kinderchor-Jugendchor during the 1970s and 80s, singing alongside other current Germania members Cathy (Rathburn) Dodson, Eric Kristofic, Melinda Green, and Michael Queck. She is also a past member of the Swiss Club’s Edelweiss Damenchor, where she sang with her father and grandparents.
A career in communications eventually led her to southern California and a highly respected job in aerospace mission operations at The Aerospace Corporation.
She returned to Columbus in 2022 to be with family and friends during a five-year battle with lymphoma.
Her optimism, intelligence, and persistence carried her through more than two years of palliative and hospice care. She was a fighter who cared as much for others’ journeys as she did for her own, always ready with a hearty laugh, a reality check, or a great big, warm hug.
Dawn’s Celebration of Life will be at Germania on Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 1 to 4pm. All club members will be welcome, whether to remember her or to get to know her bountiful spirit. She was a beacon of joy, even on the grayest of days, and we will miss her profoundly.
