Germania Bier Kameraden Update: 1-26-2021
Opportunity to get out of the house this Saturday January 3Oth at 5:00 PM
The details for our first Kameraden meeting of 2021. This is an Outdoors/Indoors event. What that means is dressing for winter weather. Think Apès Ski. There will be four fire-pits going for those that are more comfortable with outside events during Covid. Wear your ski jacket and snow-pants, hat and gloves or Bernie mittens and enjoy the warmth of a fire in the Oldest Biergarten in Columbus. There will be hot drinks available to help with the chill. Dhuey will also be poking beer. Aren’t familiar with Beer Poking? In German it’s called Bierstacheln, which translates as beerspikes. These are red-hot metal pokers (taverns of old often used shipbuilders' loggerheads) used to rapidly warm beer. In the process, the sugars in the beer become caramelized and the carbonation decreases, leaving a sweeter, smoother beer. Try it with a draft Wooly Pig Schwarzbier or an Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier.
